Disposable cameras for weddings

The disposable camera for your wedding, without the film

Disposable cameras on the tables are a lovely tradition: candid, unposed and fun. Rembr gives you the same idea on guests’ own phones. They scan a QR code and their photos, videos and messages land in one gallery that you keep, with no film to develop.

Why people look for a disposable camera alternative

Disposable cameras are charming, but couples often run into the same practical problems:

  • Cameras get lost or left unused: they wander off the tables, or sit in a bag half-finished.
  • A limited number of shots: a roll runs out, and it’s shared round a table.
  • You wait to see the photos: film has to be developed, so you may not see anything for weeks.
  • Indoor flash photos can be hit and miss: some come out dark or blurry.

How guests take wedding photos without disposables

1. Make your gallery

Add your names, the date and a look that matches your day. You can try it free.

2. Put the QR code on the tables

Print free table cards and a welcome sign, or add it to your order of service. See Printables.

3. Guests snap and share

They scan, choose photos or videos from their phone, and they’re in. No app, no account, no film.

4. See and keep them

Photos can play live on a TV at the reception, and you can download every original afterwards.

Disposable cameras or Rembr?

Neither is “right”; it depends on what you want from the day. This is how they differ:

  • Number of photos: a disposable has a fixed roll; with Rembr guests add as many as they like on paid plans.
  • When you see them: disposables after developing; Rembr as they’re taken, and live on a TV if you choose.
  • Picture quality: disposables use flash-lit film; Rembr photos come from guests’ own phone cameras.
  • Videos and messages: disposables take stills only; Rembr also collects videos, voice notes and written messages.
  • What you keep: prints and scans from film, versus every original downloaded in one go.

You can still keep a few disposables

There’s no need to choose. Some couples leave a handful of disposable cameras on the tables for the fun of it and put a QR code beside them to catch everything else. The film is a keepsake; the gallery makes sure nobody’s photos get lost.

A guest gallery also works alongside your professional photographer. It collects the candid, unposed moments from tables and dance floors, while your photographer focuses on the portraits and key moments. Read more about wedding photo sharing.

Frequently asked questions

What is an alternative to disposable cameras at weddings?

A QR code photo gallery. Guests scan a code on the tables with their phone camera and add photos and videos to one shared gallery, with no film, no developing and no app to download.

How do guests take wedding photos without disposables?

They use their own phones. After scanning your QR code they pick photos or videos from their camera roll and upload them in the browser. Everything gathers in your gallery.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests scan the QR code and add photos in their browser. There’s nothing to install and no account to make.

Can we still have disposable cameras too?

Yes. Many couples keep a few disposables for fun and use a QR code gallery to collect everyone else’s photos.

How long do we keep the photos?

Paid plans keep your gallery open for 6 or 12 months. You can download everything at any time. See Plans & pricing for the current options.
